The Africa Twin was designed without adjustment features for the seat, handlebar and footrest positions. For taller riders this may result in a relatively sharp knee angle, which can be uncomfortable on longer trips. By lowering the footrests we can relax the knee angle. The original footrests are fairly small (narrow) as well. Standing up on off-road sections results in high stress concentration on the sole of each foot, which becomes painfull over time.
The footrests are laser-cut from 3mm stainless steel and featured with tabs and slots to make assembly accurate and simple. After TIG-welding the natural oxide skin of the metal is restored by passivating the material.
